“NYC DOT and our partners are proud to present Summer Streets. We will temporarily close Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park to motor vehicles and open it up to people on three consecutive Saturdays in August (August 9, 16, & 23).”

Hot 8 Brass Band at Joe’s Pub

Since appearing in Spike Lee’s 2006 documentary When the Levees Broke, the nine New Orleans natives of Hot 8 Brass Band have been internationally in demand. This week, the joyous horn-¬fueled marching band rolls its foot-¬stomping, ¬boogie-down clatter through town. And they won’t be back anytime soon: They’re booked solid on a national tour through next spring. — Sara Cardace
